Makayla Scott is accomplishing more than any shooter I know. Makayla's mother died of a drug overdose. Then Makayla and her 2 younger siblings were placed in Foster Care. It was not a good situation. Makayla was adopted at 9. This year Makayla turned 16 and has earned a string of accomplishments, including a Guinness Book of World Record on October 12.

In 2018, one of our clients told me about Makayla, a young West Virginia girl whose life CHANGED gloriously when she fired her very first shotgun shell. I started following Makayla on Facebook, then Makayla and I became Facebook friends. I was impressed, to say the least. Her radiant smile is effervescent and warm personality permeates everything she does. Without a doubt, Makayla has the most positive attitude of any teenager I know.

In February of this year, I called Telford to ask about Makaya, where she was with her shooting, her goals, and her dreams. A few days later, River Bend Sportsmans Resort (our home club) graciously offered to gift Makayla and Telford a weekend stay so Daniel Schindler (Founder of Paragon School of Sporting Inc.) could work with Makayla on her shooting and mental game. It was a magical weekend for all! A turning point. And with each passing day, there are rays of hope...the possibility Makayla can accomplish her dream of going to the Olympics. A longshot for a teenager with little means from West Virginia.

I've never seen a more hopeful, joyous young lady. With little financial support, Telford and Makayla - against the odds - are managing to travel from one clay target tournament to the next. Makayla is accomplishing more with less than any shooter I know. Makayla and Telford make the Energizer Bunny look like a wimp! LOL

Telford Scott - Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so proud of Makayla but not for the trophies on her shelf. But the things she has overcame and the young lady she is becoming Not to mention the dreams and goals she has set for her self. I remember in the beginning I thought no way. But seeing her reach those goals one by one is amazing. I will never forget the things you all have done for her and the support you continue to give her. I fell she is only limited by me financially. But I have learned from her never give up!!
