Pre-Shot Routine (Sporting Clays, Skeet, Trap)
01/25/2017
Perception Versus Reality

Regardless of clay target discipline (sporting clays, skeet, trap), gun control skills built on the non-negotiable basics must come first. The current level of shooting success will always depend on that very foundation. Construction of gun skills underway – with consistency as the chief cornerstone of that improvement – the importance of a working PSR rises exponentially and quickly becomes a requisite in maintaining the process of incremental, measurable progress. Once understood, a working PSR is actually quite simple to assemble and implement. The power of its usefulness must be experienced to be truly appreciated. The PSR is a key component of the Paragon Mental Training ...

Where Is The Return On Your Investment?

Perception Versus Reality

Like so many Sporting Clays lessons before, yesterday I had another privilege of working with a family of 4, 2 were shooting. To say that it was a memorable experience for all of us would be a colossal understatement. This, I teach my Paragon CIS Instructors. It’s not all about gear and shooting methods. It’s also about the experience.Speaking of that experience, as it should be, we each take what we will out of a round of clays. Some of us, though, get a little higher return on our investment with each shell and target. By that I mean, each shot is not just a swing with high expectations and a mysterious result, X or 0, why did that happen? Intentionally, there’s more put ...

Sporting Clays and Wingshooting Lessons

Perception Versus Reality

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER SPORTING CLAYS INSTRUCTION? Or Wingshooting Instruction?  The importance of the following preliminary steps can’t be overstated and a mindful Coach should be helping you walk through this to ensure you can solo successfully, on your own after your lesson, in the shooting box and in the field. I believe the # 1 reason why my students are so successful in their lessons is because of the preparatory work we do, together, before shooting begins. While the shooting methods and techniques are, of course, extremely important, again, together, how we approach your lesson is every bit as important as what we cover. Here’s why. Not ...

Paragon School of Sporting News!

Perception Versus Reality

Another successful business year at Paragon, I am indeed privileged and blessed to have so many happy students who are learning and enjoying their lessons. New and experienced students are taught how to self-correct the missed target and get the X on their next swing – on their own – so they can do this successfully when they return to their home club.  Additionally, they learn how to create, and then duplicate the successful shot – on their own – for the same reason. Consistently good shooting should not be a mystery, because there’s absolutely nothing mysterious about more being more consistent and raising your scores. With another registration ...
